Marvel Studios offered an official first look at ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ during their CinemaCon panel, bringing together leading men Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, along with director-duo Russo Brothers and producer Kevin Feige.

The Walt Disney Co. staged a blockbuster-sized presentation, showing new footage from ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ along with other films. Robert Downey Jr. was there to introduce the trailer for the film, which brings together the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four together in the MCU for the first time.

Kevin Feige said they’ll be re-releasing “Avengers: Endgame” in September in the lead up to “Doomsday,” which, he said, “picks up where ‘Endgame’ left off, but also goes back to when it all started with ‘X-MEN.’” Director Joe Russo also set expectations high for the film’s central antagonist, declaring, “Victor Von Doom is the greatest Marvel villain of all time. Yes, he is greater than Thanos.”

Avengers: Doomsday trailer details leaked

The presentation included a full-length trailer that, according to attendees, “lives up to the hype” and “holds nothing back,” showcasing a sprawling, multi-franchise conflict. The footage reportedly opens with narration from Doctor Doom and Thor, with Downey Jr. adopting a distinct accent for his portrayal of Victor Von Doom, markedly different from his iconic Tony Stark voice. His first look, in full body armour and a mask is featured in the new clip. As per tweets, the trailer features a series of highlights ranging from the X-Men mansion, beginning with Professor X reacting to an explosion outside as Doom is seen making a dramatic entrance into the mansion courtyard, warning of an impending catastrophe and suggesting that heroes may need to make an “unthinkable decision.”The footage also features some unprecedented crossover of characters and teams like the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and Sam Wilson’s Avengers all shown together inside Avengers Tower, now bearing a redesigned “New Avengers” logo. Elsewhere, a striking visual reveals a desert-like landscape that is in fact the ocean floor, parted by Namor, where the Fantastic Four encounter the Wakandans.

Steve Rogers returns to fight alongside Thor

Several action sequences drew particular attention, including Channing Tatum’s Gambit facing off against Shang-Chi, and Mystique shapeshifting into Yelena before battling her. A large-scale Avengers vs X-Men confrontation is also teased, alongside a clash between Thor and Doctor Doom.Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor is depicted as a central figure attempting to unite the heroes, delivering a speech to resolve their differences. In one key moment, he declares, “We need a miracle,” before holding out Mjolnir. In a dramatic twist, the hammer leaves Thor’s hand and flies to Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers prompting Thor to say, “it’s not possible” as Captain America returns to the fight.The trailer reportedly ends with Steve joining the battle and reuniting with Thor, a moment that “brought the house down” at the convention.

Avengers: Doomsday Trailer early reviews

Early reactions from attendees have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic. “The Avengers: Doomsday trailer is purely glorious and, as a Marvel fan, I am just floored by what a dream that movie looks like,” one viewer said. Another described the film as “a super hero team up spectacular,” adding that “a gajillion dollars is inevitable,” while highlighting Gambit versus Shang-Chi as a standout sequence.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ release date

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects to date. The makers also confirmed a December 18 release, setting it up for a clash with ‘Dune: Part Three’ at the box office.
